Installation

Using WordPress Admin Panel

Go to Plugins and then click the Add New button.
Search for smtpcom in the search field Search Plugins….
Identify the SMTP.com plugin in the list and start the installation by clicking the Install Now button.
Activate the plugin by going to Plugins and then choose Installed Plugins, find the SMTP.com plugin and click Activate Plugin.

Upload Manually

Download the plugin from its repository by pressing the Download button.
Go to Plugins in your WordPress Admin Panel and then click Add New button.
Click the Upload Plugin button, select the downloaded zip archive with the plugin and click Install Now.
Activate the plugin in the Plugins menu in WordPress as specified in the Admin Panel option above

Upload Using FTP

Download the plugin from its repository by clicking the Download button.
Unzip the downloaded file and launch your FTP client.
Locate the folder plugins under the wp-content folder in the root directory.
Upload the whole folder from the unzipped file to the plugins folder on your remote server.
Activate the plugin in the Plugins menu in WordPress as specified in the Admin Panel option above.

This was difficult to set up. It is not clear how to set the DNS settings so after many tries we managed to slog through and get it right. However . . . If you need to cancel this service for a client, SMTP.com will ask you why. So you type out the reasons why. Then they will ask you if you want a 10% discount to stay like they never never read all the info you just gave them, not if you reconsider we could offer you. . . . When you say thank you but no we need to cancel. They then come back with the 30 day policy which doesn’t mean that it’s 30 days from the day you write asking to cancel so you might get one more invoice; NO, it’s 30 days from the invoice that you haven’t received yet. So it’s more like a 7 week cancellation process (In our case), thus two more monthly payments. In the end after trying to be super nice and complementary about the service they weren’t very nice. There are other SMTP services out there that are easier to use and have great support. Also if your host truncates the number of e-mails you can send an hour it might take a very long time to get a lot of e-mails sent out. We had to set it to 50 e-mails an hour. If you are sending high volume and need it to be in a timely manner and have a host that puts a check valve on the number of e-mails you can send out . . . you might want to consider an alternative. And on exit we felt screwed.

Tried using my SMTP credentials associated within my SMTP.com account, as well as the API associated with my account (even generated a new API) and it doesn’t authenticate with their services. This plugin is useless waste of time installing.

If you subscribe to smtp.com be warned that this service charges a 30-day cancellation fee for absolutely no functional or practical reason other than to extort money from you.

I used to pay for other plugins to use SMTP.com service until i found this official plugin and immediately switched. However, it’s important that you (developers) provide an option to change “Email From” details. Right now, it’s just use the default email which is not the right always!!!!
